Building a Sustainable Enterprise: How to Plan For the Future Without Ready Now or Ready Soon Successors

January 25 @ 8:00 am - 10:30 am

Good governance: How to build or refresh your corporate board and what it can do for you.

There are various strategies to grow and many considerations when doing so. When developing a growth strategy, it’s wise to engage potential successors in the strategic planning and execution, but what to do when there isn’t a ready now, ready soon, or any successor at all? Most generational enterprises would start thinking about an exit path; however, that isn’t the only answer to the successor challenge. Does your enterprise really require a family member at the helm, or is there another approach? Consider the role of Stewardship. Many enterprises look to a generational succession of senior leaders as a way to pass the torch and secure the values and legacy. However, a solid corporate board and a family governance process that focuses on the Stewardship of the organization leaves room for outside leaders to forge a solid growth strategy with proper oversight. Learn how family and corporate governance can shepherd a company into a new leadership model that keeps the values and legacy intact.
