Family meetings and charters are certainly easier said than done. We know we should have them but there are a lot of factors to balance. Why should I host a family meeting? Who should be there? How often? What’s in a family charter? How do I write one?

As part of our Roots curriculum, we’ll be taking a deeper look at family meetings and charters. Not only will you learn the benefits of both, but you’ll get time to work hands-on with your family and team to brainstorm how you can implement them. You’ll walk away with shared experience, agenda templates and policy samples – everything you need to start operating your meetings and drafting your charter.

The CFBC knows there’s no better way to inspire change than to hear the shared experiences of others. We’re honored to welcome George Brown from Highlights for Children, Inc. and Jamie Richardson from White Castle. Both Highlights (4th generation) and White Castle (5th generation) are family business that utilize family meetings and charters. George and Jamie will share their experiences with implementation and lessons learned along the way.

Leading the course is Dr. Deb Houden, a consultant with the Family Business Consulting Group. Deb specializes in helping family-owned businesses with family communication, transition, and next generation development by providing resources, tools, and knowledge that are needed to navigate their specific issues.
