June President’s Message – Time is Priceless
Wow, this is my final President’s Message! I’d like to start with a quote from author Harvey MacKay:
“Time is free, but it’s priceless. You can’t own it, but you can use it. You can’t keep it, but you can spend it. Once you’ve lost it you can never get it back.”
This past year has been a priceless experience. The number of wonderful people working behind the scenes allows CFBC member companies and their families a smorgasbord of opportunities to improve their businesses and lives. For the many people I’ve met frequently at events: Kudos! You are using that time wisely. Your decision to spend time on Forum and educational programming is commendable. Please continue to spread the value of your experiences to entrepreneurs and family businesses by referring them to the CFBC. The more the merrier!
I started the year with 3 simple messages:
Give thanks.
Thank you to my wife Katie and children Jimmy and Lauren. Your understanding that this was going to be a busy year was gracious and giving. A big thank you to CFBC staff Judy, Liz, Kerra, Diana, and Danielle—you put forth so much effort and are a joy to work with! Working with Mark Wesa, Al Youna, & Jeff Conner on the EC has been a fantastic learning experience. Thanks to Nirel Inman for accepting the invitation to join the EC. One last hearty thank you to our CFBC Member Companies spending this wonderful year with us!
Evolve by getting involved.
I was moved by the success of our attendance during the CFBC Crain’s Small Business Weeks programs. Great numbers, excellent content and time well spent. Come on out a celebrate at our Summer Social Golf Outing. Bring an entrepreneur friend or two!
Family First.
My goal is to have some quality family time this summer. I just watched my daughter graduate grade school and son run in the state track meet. I’m off to a good start, and I look forward to those walks with my wife and family bike rides on the Prairie Path. Need to keep that work/life balance. Need to spend the family time, because you can never get it back.
Have a wonderful summer!
